When re-setting the iphone 4 do you need the correct sim-card in it for it to re-set? Because I have a jailbroken iphone 4 and I have reset it with the bew simcard and it wont reset, it is stuck on the silver apple logo?

I synced my wife’s new iphone4 as my own iphone4, now all my contacts, music, internet & email settings are in my wife’s new phone and itunes thinks its my phone when I connect my wife’s new iphone4 to my imac5. I should have set up her new phone separately but clicked the wrong box when I first connected her new phone to my imac5pc. We are desperate for a solution.
    Many thanks. Peter & Barb

iTunes has a system that at times creates a new library and then replaces your old one… you may be able to recover your old one and keep your new one by simply scrolling through the options that you have in iTunes… unfortunately i forget how to get to that area in iTunes.

This is all wrong. Your “Hard Restart” will not delete any information, it will only reboot. To delete the information with an unresponsive – ie not turning on iPhone – you must plug it into your computer, enter DFU mode and then restore.

      • Andrew says

The point Gabe was trying to make is that a hard reset DOES NOT delete any data, so your statement above “This will delete all data off the phone” is incorrect and will mislead a lot of people.

My iphone 4 keeps on cycling through the lock screen and the silver apple logo… when the apple logo comes up it has a loading circle and then the lock screen comes up and it continues its cycle… i have done both hard and soft resets to try to solve this but neither of them have done anything at all. Each time the lock screen comes up i attempt to enter in my code but the touch screen isnt working either…

  9. a says

That is not a hard reset… using the slider puts it to sleep. while using both the power and hold button shuts it off completely for a soft reset. A hard reset on a phone is bringing it back to factory settings

    Hi guys,

I am facing an issue for mobile internet surfing. i.e. when i select 3G to be used for internet purpose, i can’t surf through safari or any other app. but with wifi i can surf the internet..

I have tried Soft Reset (Pressing home and sleep/awake button togather). but it didn’t improve anything.

    kindly, help me out.

    • Anwar Hussain says

      Hi Narmi!

Did you add access point for 3G internet connection. Please check Network setting. Furthermore you must choose 3G network coverage for iPhone in order to surf with 3G internet connection.

    • Anwar Hussain says

yah! this is only the solution when you forget the passcode of iPhone or any Apple’s gadget such as iPad, iPod…..
